It’s our final video from the Big Island and we’re closing out our trip with a traditional Hawaiian recipe – made with a special ingredient we’re able to pick straight from the property! – that most definitely puts my patience to the test. Will it be a success? Or failure? 🤷🏻♂️ And here’s where we stayed: https://www.heartofhualalai.com

We really just have one goal – to make your food life better. Ok that, and be entertained at the same time. And have you learn a few things along the way. So let’s make it 3 goals then.
If you only want the steps to make something, like those vids shot from above with no people, no conversation no nuthin – then we are absolutely not for you. But if you wanna a little fun while you learn, then this is the place.
Cooking doesn’t have to be hard, it just has to be delicious.

“MAKING A TRADITIONAL HAWAIIAN RECIPE THAT PUTS MY PATIENCE TO THE TEST… | SAM THE COOKING GUY” üzerine 25 yorum
hope you washed those taro leaves good lol
Have you made anything with Pandan Leaves before?
Looks good
Lau lau is maybe my favorite local dish and when I'm not here it's what I miss the most.
Two people and just put it on the back of his tongue and remember you're the one with opposable thumbs.
Fruit puree mixed with the pill using syringe?
Or pate?
What’s up brother
Dude we try a Hollendias Eggs Sandwich, and maybe a open roast beef sandwich
One with traditional gravy
The other with Holladales
FOR LOUIS:: put the pill in a mini marshmallow. It's what we do
This is why i started watching this channel! You’d never see Rachel Ray forget the garlic! You’re an Everyman! 😂😂😂
I feel for Zach. My dog, Roxy, would give Louis a run for his money in a “fuck you, I’m smarter than that and know there’s a goddamn pill in there” contest.
She just KNOWS.
We wrap our dog's pills in fatty soft cooked bacon, and it usually works. We have a huge pill that we quarter. Every once in a while he spits it but he will take it again
Lewis needs a suppository! Aloha and mahalo!!!
My husband brought me here to comment since we have to give our dog a shot and a pill every twelve hours. I haven't read all of the comments to see if anyone is suggesting this, but face Louis when you give him the pill. He needs to see you as your hands are approaching his face. It will also be easier to open his mouth. You can use both hands when you're facing him. Then push the pill as far back as you possibly can in his throat, close his mouth and keep it closed while you rub his throat so that he will swallow the pill. Praise him highly at every step and reward him with a treat upon completion. Don't express disappointment for his defensive behavior. He's scared, not deliberately mean.
Loved the video as a Hawaiian viewer 😊 Happy to see my culture being recognized! Sometimes what my family does is put the stems inside and eat it with the laulau too 😅
If you want to give Lewis meds, first start with a son who isn’t a moron.
Crush Louis med and mix with ice cream
Ok, here for Sam and the recipes and the comedy. But, he and his son asked a very pertinant question. How do you give medicine to your beloved dog? My answer? Teach the dog as a pup to accept the medicine. 13 years ago I adopted a new pup after many years of keeping pet dogs. Giving his predecessors medicine was always a nightmare, and I knew other pet owners who had the same problem (cats, dogs and rabbits) I decided to try to teach my new dog to accept medicine by both being up front that medicine was being offered and also rewarding the pup with treats and OTT affection for taking the medicine. Short version, it worked. He always took the medicine I had to give him and he enjoyed it as well as getting the benefit from it. I lost him a few months ago as he got so ill no medicine could have helped him. Long version, whatever pup comes to share my life in future, I will definitely teach the same lesson to as it benefits the dog and makes my life easier. My honest opinion, this post might help you, and more importantly your dog if you listen and take it the right way. Apart from that, keep watching Sam's vids, enjoy them and listen to his advice, the dude knows what he is talking about! Try his recipes, you will make tasty, tasty food.
Lau Lau is an amazing dish. Remember being in Molokai and a family were selling these. The BEST dinner we had all week. Tender and flavorful! Great work bruda Sam!
Did you bring a local Spam dish back with you for a video?
Love this!
Will Backwoods work?
this might enrage the Hawaiian Gods (hopefully not Pele) but to me this screams to have a bit of ginger and a drop or two of sesame oil in each packet.
Looks delicious 🤤
Pill popper for dogs. Looks like a syringe. Pops it into the back of their mouth and they swallow it.
What always worked for me was bologna bc it covered the sent. But you can’t just hand it over you have to make the dog feel excited about getting the treat. So dance around and use puppy voices. Yes you’ll look like an idiot doing but they get excited and eat the shit out of it without a care of the meds.
