These chicken tots have a poutine vibe, despite being much easier and faster to make than the classic beef gravy version, and yet this satisfies in the all the same ways. Saucy meat over potatoes is always a winner, and I think this bowl of creamy chicken over tots will be your new favorite thing to eat the minute you try it. Enjoy!

Colorful, yummy, and comforting ? I'm in! Haven't had tots in a while and now I'm remembering how much I miss them! So tomorrow they're on the list! Also, was thinking cheese might be a good addition, and a few seconds later it made an appearance! Delicious!
No
Consider me triggered! 🙂
The commentary is top tier 😂
Did I miss the part where he puts cayenne in?
5:15 You are after all, Bruce Springsteen “The Boss,” of just how thick to make your sauce.
Omgosh, that looks so good. I can't have peppers. What do you think would be a good substitute?
I am soooo going to be a bad boy tomorrow. Taking my leftover taco meat, some beef gravy (with chile powder) and some cubed up Monterrey Jack to work and gonna pour that all over a fresh pile of tater tot’s from the cafeteria. Yum!
well the issue is…we don't have tater tots in our country
Looks absolutely delicious!
If you had put cheese curds on top, that would definitely have qualified as poutine to me.
The proper way to make tater tots: Use the frozen variety of your choice. 😀
Kind of reminds me of chicken a la king
Fun fact: we call Tater Tots "potato gems" in Australia. So a name like "Chicken Gems" could work, and would also be inoffensive to French Canadians. Although I guess it could also confuse non-Aussies who might think you're just using some weird name for nugs.
This one would be great in a casserole dish with the chicken stew on the bottom, par baked tots on top with cheese then baked to perfection. Like a cottage pie but with tots instead of mashed taters.
+1
Tater tots look very tasty but I don't know what to substitute them with 🙁 Maybe potato croquette balls?
Onion, carrots, peas, chicken broth…
You should have called it a Chicken Tot Pie
For the rest of the world who don't have good tater-tots (ours (NL) are mashed potato inside – bleh!) it'd be really great if you offered up a recipe for something we could make ourselves, then the rest of the recipe would be worth trying.
Your mom goes to college.
Hey Chef John! What do you use to spray oil?
I tried SO MANY things that are supposed to do that and they ALL fail.
Halp!
Is there an option to not auto translate the video titles in youtube? The german version of the title is really cringe and i wouldn't watch english videos if i couldn't understand them anyway.
Please show us europeans how to make tater tots at home, we don't have those in our stores over here :-.(
chicken a la tots
I make ground beef with gravy, served over fries. Top with shredded chedder, lettuce, red onion, tomato, and "secret sauce" aka thousand island dressing. I think the family would like this!
Meh.
Greetings and a Blessed 2025 to you and yours, Chef John! Man, your family must love you dearly with all those scrumptious, delicious recipes!
Chef John make some Nepali food. been ur fan for 15 f**king years
This Canadian is still triggered since there are no cheese curds nor gravy that is poured over to melt that cheese.. nuhuh.. nooo sir.
I am American, but on behalf of Canada, I would like to thank you for refraining from calling this poutine.
This looks like great hangover food. Leaving work now to go get a head start on tomorrow’s hangover.
That tiny nugget is the Quality Control Bite
Woke up to watch this and remind me I have some sautéed deli sliced ham to use up somehow — at first was thinking Chef John's famous noodle soup video — but this endgame changes my mind. Maybe i was watching this while falling asleep last night: no other seasoning than salt? And YOU know, that WE know, somehow forgot to add the cayenne?!?!
I cried! This was so beautiful! 😮
An upside down hot dish?
Hello, this looks amazing! But what are tater tots? They are not available where I'm from. Are they some sort of hashbrown? Could that be used instead or is it too soft inside?
I cannot WAIT to make this for the playoff games this weekend.
Chicken thighs. MmHmmmm
Wait. What? No cayenne?!?
If your voice/delivery ever changed by one iota, I’d never watch again. No offense😂
that looks delicious!
looks like a good GF meal to me
Cheese is absolutely *not* optional but mandatory. 😐
I'm making this for my brother tomorrow. Very excited
no cheese curds so yeah, not poutine at all really
Today Chef John has officially run out of recipes. I’m a sad.
Gnocchi poutine is also amazing. Starch + cheese + gravy = amazing.
It is so upsetting you have given up on your fans who made you. Now everything is members only. have fun with Trump Musk Zuckerberg and Bezos
We're dodging the carbs, these days, Frere John, but I think I'll indulge my wife with chicken and sauce, with a good salad.
