Tofu was natural byproduct of nations mostly south eastern ones which don’t use much milk and milks byproducts so soybeans having high protein and properties similar to milk got going yet milk has its more of goodness enzymes mostly of calming more dopamine inducing so it’s milk but south eastern natiin from Japan china to rest racial groups are not used to milk line rest of world is , paneer similar to tofu yet with more texture taste and adaptability to various tasty cuisines and sweets

  2. Just tried this recipe and it came out absolutely horrible. Followed all instructions. 370 at 20 minutes is WAYYY too long. The tofu pieces not only shrunk in size but was completely dried on the inside. Also, the spices didn’t help in that you could probably marinate this for half a day and no flavor would still be able to penetrate the tofu pieces. Because of the high heat and duration, the spices that stuck to the tofu’s outer layer was basically burnt. Not even drizzling a ton of BBQ sauce over the tofu was able to save this for us.

    Here is how to use banana as an oil substitute for air fryer tofu:
    Ingredients
    Tofu: 1 block extra-firm (pressed and cubed).
    Glaze: 1 very ripe mashed banana (smoother is better), 2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for savory balance).
    Coating: 1-2 tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot powder (essential for crisping).
    Instructions
    Prepare the Tofu: Press the tofu for at least 15–30 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut into 1-inch cubes.
    Make the Banana Glaze: In a large bowl, mash the banana until completely smooth. Whisk in the soy sauce/tamari and spices (garlic powder, paprika) until it forms a uniform slurry.
    Coat the Tofu: Add the tofu cubes to the bowl and gently toss until evenly coated with the banana mixture.
    Add Cornstarch: Sprinkle the cornstarch over the tofu and toss gently again until it is fully coated and no dry white spots remain. The mixture should become sticky.
    Air Fry:
    Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
    Place tofu in a single layer in the basket, ensuring space between cubes for air circulation.
    Air fry for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket or tossing the tofu halfway through.
    Cook until the tofu is golden brown and crispy on the edges.
    Tips for Success
    Prevent Sticking: While the banana glaze is sticky, it can sometimes stick to the air fryer rack. Using a parchment paper liner with holes can help with cleanup.
    Balance the Sweetness: Because bananas are sweet, ensure you use enough savory elements like soy sauce and garlic powder to balance the flavor.
    For Extra Crispy: For the best results, use "super firm" tofu, which requires less pressing.

  5. Wow. I remember when people started buying tofu in the 90s when people thought it was cool to be vegetarian. I didn’t know anyone actually cooked and ate it. I had no idea it was still available these days and I thought it was just a joke food that was only edible for the weirder vegetarians from back then.
