Our favorite home cooked meal…meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans!!! ❤
Love this video!! Love all the “down home” cooking! Those are the best kind of meals!! (Even though I do like to try some new dishes once in a while)
I live in north Louisiana and our weather is extremely cold. Some arctic weather is about to move through. It’s supposed to get in the teens!!! Brrrrr! I’m NOT a fan of cold weather! Would rather have 100 degree temps.
I have always cooked meals like these for my family too. I’ve never given thought to how content creators like yourself have to go about deciding on recipes to make and when you must make them. I guess it’s all a part of your job now. It sure would have been nice to do something like this when I cooked all the time. Now I’m an empty nester. Kids are grown and I lost my husband to brain cancer. It’s just me! I admire what you do bc for me it would have been what I loved doing anyway. But I worked outside the home. By the time I got home I had put in twelve hours of work!! It was hard!
My son loves my meatloaf, one time I started making it and realized I was out of oats! Sooo I used breadcrumbs. He was like what happened to your meatloaf?!? 😂 He definitely noticed the difference and now I always check before I get started haha 😂
Mel, thank you for being the kind of wife who isn't afraid to say that she does things a certain way because it's how your husband likes it. I see so many younger gals who act like that is somehow a bad thing. My husband has gone on to be with the Lord, but when he was still here, I loved doing things he liked. After all, I married him because I loved him- and when we love someone, we like doing little things that bring them pleasure, right? Seeing you add a little extra brown sugar to things for Patrick's sake makes me smile. You guys are such a cute couple, & I really enjoy when he makes an appearance in your videos. God's blessings to you both from Pennsylvania. 🙏🥰
Fun video! Thanks Mel Jennifer 😊
I'm going to try every one of these recipes they all look so delicious. You know you really need an airfryer to cook those fries in I know you said in the past you don't care for too many kitchen gadgets but an airfryer is my best friend I just love them. I use them every day. I would not want to be without one they are a really big help in my kitchen. I just love to watch you cook❤❤❤❤❤
You are one of my favorites and I love your videos
Awesome video Mel ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
My husband is Italian descent and we always always keep recorded cheese in the refrigerator sometimes two containers at a time lasagna is not lasagna to eat without whip garlic but I love your other recipes and I’ll make it my way when we get when I get this thank you for sharing your dad and your meals with us😊
Mel, you are so right! You can’t beat the classics. The holidays are ever so we can enjoy the classics again. I laugh out loud when you picked up the brown sugar to your potatoes! Will be making the meatloaf this week.
I’m making Stella’s chicken casserole for dinner tonight! I’ve seen this recipe a couple times on your channel and decided it’s time to make it! As you always say, “make it your own”, I’ve added in some garlic & onion powder along with a sprinkle of paprika and some Italian seasoning. I tested that mixture and boy does that taste good! I’m pretty sure the family will love this casserole! Thanks Mel 😊❤
Aww so many sweet memories being shared and around the table ❤
I'm glad you're liking the snow. Here in Ohio, I'm about done with it and ready for warmer weather. I made one of your crockpot meals for dinner tonight to warm us up.
Really loved this video showing your family’s favorites! What skillet are you using when making the sloppy Joe’s? Love you and your sweet family!
Sloppy joes look great, I only use cottage cheese too.I still have to try those green beans, looks good.
I know that YouTubers share recipes online…i also know that you, Mel, have to feed your people…"behind the scenes" as it were…I watch your videos to see your lovely face and hear your voice, and to find recipes….you have a fan in SE Ohio where it is bitter cold right now…..sending you a hug…
I had the chicken casserole for lunch- delicious! I will double the chicken next time.
The only recipe I was able to download was the meatloaf. All the other links would not download. 🙁 I really wanted the sloppy joe recipe.
I started whipping eggs before putting in meat loaf or other things to mix easier especially if mixing by hand.
LOVE this video 💖💖💖!!! The classics can not be beat when all is said & done. The realness, the laughter, the old school cooking…all of it, GREAT video Ms. Mel 💖💖💖. P.S. I try new new recipes a lot & like most but ALWAYS end up going back to the old favs 🙃🤷♀️.
❤❤❤
Just curious, why is it called “the aisle of shame” at ALDIs? You’re the second YouTuber I’ve heard refer to it as that. Just wondering.
That’s right! That’s the best meatloaf EVER! I’ve made this meatloaf three times and the flavor and its richness never disappoints! Please try it with all the sides. It’s done in less than an hour! Thank you Mel ❤❤❤
I’ve never been to an Aldi that was fun! Why do you call it the aisle of shame??
I cut up onion, put it in a bag,if I don't eat in a few days, freeze it.may add celery and bell peppers.easy to take out and put in anything, soup,or tacos etc.I like Aldi dish washer pods, the bread is great, and the chocolate is great 😊
Everything is good priced.
Watching you from Delaware.
…I grew up on " Classic Food ", ..and those Dishes that I learned to make, from my Grandmother and my Mother, were the Dishes I made not only for myself, as a single woman ..but later in Life, when I had children, those are the things I cooked …and taught to my own Daughters. My oldest Daughter even said to me recently.. " Mom. ..my Chicken and Dumplings turn out really good…but yours are the absolute best. Every time. .." which just made my Heart smile. ❤️
So, Yes.. the Tried and True Foods that we enjoy making, and serving …Those are the ones that our Families will remember and cherish. Thank you, Momma Mel fir a lovely Video. 🍽👏🏻⭐️♡
❤ Lasagna looks good 😊
I love your greenbean recipe, I've fixed mine this way from the very first time I saw it on one of your videos. I love all of your videos.
🩷🙂🩷
Im always looking for different, yet the same recipes. Im going to try the tomato topping on my meatloaf.
Hey Mel & Patrick, thanks for another great video! I’m in need of new sheets but the Brooklinen link isn’t working for me. It just brings up the email form to be notified of new products.
I appreciate you talking about your bedding, as I have considered trying this brand. Enjoyed your color selection also.
Something new I learned was that they make non-stick foil! My husband has been doing most of the grocery buying as I need a knee replacement, so I had never seen this or heard of it. Tks for the info for this old gal.❤
I enjoyed the heck out of this video!
Loved hanging out with you in this video. I love that you’re just a down home Southern girl who doesn’t try to be something she’s not. Someday I want to get back to doing cooking videos. I love showing people that good food doesn’t have to be fancy. Every time I make lasagna I manage to forget a layer of noodles lol 😆 it doesn’t cut well but it sure is meaty and cheesy lol I have got to make some now lol. Omg I love being able to clean out those packages that just have a bit of this or that left too. Feels productive lol 😆 I loved this style of video. Felt like being right there and hanging out.
Hello my Friend. I just LOVE your simple country cooking ! I think we could be friends. I’d love to hang out with you and swap recipes. Have you ever thought of adding a couple tablespoons of brown sugar in your meat spaghetti sauce ? My family and 28:03 friends love my spaghetti sauce ! Try it and let me know what you think !! Keep up the g
If anyone has a bigger family on Budget get 2lbs of ground Turkey and put 2 tablespoons of beef buillion Norr. Put in your turkey meat as you crumble it. Splash of whashyasister sauce. Lol. But its good budget friendly for cheaper meat for lasagna. Add extra Italian seasoning and oregano garlic powder and onion powder promise turkey is 1.99 for 1 pound role. I love it. With my heart problems Turkey is my best meat.
Definitely going to try your meatloaf; it looks delicious! Meatloaf gets a bad rap but it is a favorite of mine.
Being married for 40 years I cook what my husband likes too! No shame in our game Mel! Love your posts. Stay Blessed!
You are an inspiration!!! Thank you.
Enjoyed watching your lasagna video – I haven’t made it in ages! I usually add/whisk in an egg or two into the cheese mixture. Once baked, it makes the cheese layer stand up and makes cutting into the baked product not so soupy or messy. Anyone else do that?!
These all look great! Thanks for sharing Momma Mel! Could I put the lasagna in the crackpot? Hi or lo and how long please?
