These gorgeous potato chip latkes, made with crushed potato chips, are much more than a no-peel, no-grate time saving hack—they’re actually as good, if not better than most classic potato pancake recipes. Enjoy!

Chef, since potato chips are already very salty could the added amount be too much? I ask bc someone told me crushed up potato chips on top of tuna casserole is good but it was way too salty for me. Is there any reason of cooking them well to put this much salt in?
Wow. Talk about your disability friendly latke recipe! SO much easier than all the shredding squeezing and draining. And probably a lot easier to not burn the outside while the inside is still raw. sigh
HAPPY HANUKKAH!
Going to try these latkes. They look so good!
You mad genius. This is brilliant.
I now want jalapeno latkes.
I'm gonna try making these for New Year's.
Oh my god, grating and wringing out potatoes is as miserable as latkes are delicious. This is a game-changer.
Hand defoliate counts as seasoning
oh man, and with some salmon roe, sour cream, capers and dill…..
This sounds like a good way to use up those small chips at the bottom of the bag that are not as good as the big ones, just collect a few bags worth and make these.
Our Eastern European variant while containing onion is served with sour cream and granulated sugar 🙂 yum
Thank you so much for making this particular video. My mom made these for Hanukkah every year since I was… born. She just died a couple of weeks ago and I can’t find her recipe yet. So again, thank you so much, chef John!
Those are kartoffelpuffers and I'm a kartoffelpufferesser
but does this work with real potatoes?!
Chef John’s gangsta name should be John “And-A-Shake-Of-Cayenne”
Looks delicious but simply too unhealthy to eat
This feels criminal to me. But I will try. 😂
I like mine with honey and yoghurt.
Chef John, you are an American treasure.
You've just enabled me to make potato pancakes despite not being able to physically squeeze enough water out of the grated actual potatoes to keep them from being mushy and disgusting. I've tried for ages to figure out how to make these with literally no upper body strength, and there simply isn't a way, until now. You deserve a g/d Nobel Prize for this hack.
Should top them with some sour cream and onion dip. But this is something I definitely want to try.
Sounds a lot easier than grating Potatoes, squeezing out the water.
The Potatoes Chips are already dry.
I wonder how it would taste using Sour Cream and Chive Potatoes Chips
hyper processed food is really unhealthy. why would you use pringels to cook it again
this is just insane
You're the Michael Phipps of fried potato chips
This takes literally almost no effort as a side dish and looks delicious, sometimes this is precisely what I need.
If you use potato chips to actually exfoliate your hands, you probably don't want people eating them afterwards.
Oh I will be making these! Yummmmm Have a very Merry Christmas tomorrow 🎄
This recipe is a total game changer! Never would've thought using kettle chips could make such amazing latkes. Love how Chef John turned what was supposed to be just a quick hack into something even better than traditional potato pancakes. The texture looks absolutely perfect – those crispy edges! And that classic combo of applesauce, sour cream, and chives on top… chef's kiss. His quirky sense of humor always makes these videos extra fun to watch. Definitely saving this one for my next brunch party!
this is the most stoner food dish I think you have ever made!
This recipe is equal parts confusing and genius.
Merry Christmas Chef John and Michelle, from Tasmania.
Based on the thumbnail, I didn't know what to think about these, but now I will make them.
I love potato pancakes, but I'm not crazy about making them. This is something I am definitely going to try! Thanks, Chef!
Neat recipe
When I first read the title, I thought it must be a mistake. But your latkes look delicious and I'm going to try this recipe as soon as i can buy the potato chips. Thank you for sharing.
You've inspired me, Potato Chip Latkes Eggs Benedict. Latkes topped with a poached egg, crispy bacon bits and a hollandaise sauce.
This makes a lot of sense. The thing that ruins potato pancakes is too much liquid. You can't get less liquid that chips
Brilliant❤
